Search Intent (search intent) is the underlying goal someone has when typing in a search query: finding information, locating a brand, or making a purchase.

The four types search intent

Google broadly distinguishes between four categories:

Why search intent is more important than the keyword itself

Content that doesn't align with the intent behind a keyword rarely ranks well, even if it's technically perfect seo. Google’s algorithm is getting better and better at determining whether a page actually provides the answer the searcher is looking for; a product page that ranks for an informational search query (“what is…”) often misses the mark, no matter how good the technical aspects are.

Search Intent Apply in content and ads

When creating content or SEA-campaigns, the first question is always: What does someone who types in this keyword really want? A comparison blog aligns with commercial intent, a direct landing page A CTA aligns with transactional intent; confusing these two is a common mistake that conversion cost.
