Advertising Principles

YouthCommerce runs advertising campaigns on behalf of clients in a wide range of industries. For some of these industries, additional rules apply in addition to the general Dutch Advertising Code. On this page, we explain the principles that guide our work.

Dutch Advertising Code

For every advertisement we create on behalf of our clients, we adhere to the Dutch Advertising Code.

Advertisements are clearly identifiable as such, claims are substantiated and not misleading, and comparative advertising is conducted fairly.

This applies to paid advertisements just as much as it does to content marketing and Digital PR.

Advertising for medical cosmetic treatments

For clients in the medical and cosmetic sectors, such as clinics that offer botox, fillers, or similar treatments, we also adhere to the Code of medical and cosmetic treatments by physicians. specifically, this means that in our campaigns:

  • Do not use time pressure or countdown mechanisms;
  • Do not link discount promotions to a requirement to book immediately;
  • Do not target minors with advertising;
  • Not imply that a particular appearance is preferable;
  • Support claims about results; do not exaggerate or downplay them;
  • State or refer to the title, position, and BIG registration number of the treating physician;
  • Never suggest that a treatment is risk-free.

When a treatment involves a prescription drug, such as botox, we focus our advertising on the clinic and the services it provides, rather than on the drug itself. this is required by the medicines act.

Advertising to children and youth

When a campaign gains a wider reach through social media, we adhere to the children and youth advertising code. no misleading advertising directed at minors, no encouraging children to pester their parents, and no use of children’s personal data for profiling without parental consent.

No misleading design choices

Conversion optimization is part of our service offering. We do not use misleading design choices, such as fake scarcity, artificial time pressure, or hidden opt-outs. The goal is to eliminate real friction, not to put pressure on visitors.
