Retargeting It involves using ads to re-engage people who have previously interacted with a brand, website, or social media page.

Retargeting on social media

Retargeting works within social media according to the same logic as remarketing at Google Ads, but specifically targeting platforms like Meta and TikTok: visitors who viewed a page, watched (part of) a video, or interacted with a post are then shown targeted follow-up ads.

From Awareness to a Concrete Offer

Retargeting-Ads often contain a more concrete offer than the initial, broader introductory campaign—such as a specific promotion, a testimonial, or a direct call to action—targeted at people who are already familiar with the brand and therefore need less persuasion than a completely cold audience.

The period during which someone is still being retargeted (for example, 7, 30, or 90 days after the last touchpoint) determines how “hot” or “cold” the target audience still is; a shorter window typically results in a higher conversion rate, but a smaller reach.
