Google Shopping displays product ads with an image, price, and store name at the top of or next to the search results when someone searches for a product.

Feed-driven, not keyword-driven

Unlike standard text ads, it runs Google Shopping based on a product feed set up through Google Merchant Center, rather than manually selected keywords. Google automatically matches search queries to products based on feed data such as product title, category, attributes, and description.

Why the feed is just as important as ad management

A poorly optimized product feed—with vague titles, missing attributes, and outdated prices—immediately limits the reach and relevance of Shopping ads, no matter how well the bidding strategy is set up. Feed optimization is therefore just as critical to success as the campaign structure itself.

When Google Shopping is most effective

Google Shopping It works exceptionally well for tangible, physical products with a clear price and availability; the visual ad that prominently displays the price competes directly at the moment the searcher makes a decision.
